VA Beach report Lynnhaven Inlet
Feb 16, 2008
Well, we had another crew come down from the Cape May area to do some Bass fishing and the guys had a blast! Monday started off blowing so we waited till 11:30 to head out and we headed over to Cape Charles area to drift some eels and caught the slack there & only got 2 bites and the first bite was a swing & a miss. The second hook found ir's mark and the fight was on. On the way out I asked everyone onboard what was their biggest Bass & only 1 guy caught a Bass over 40 lbs. And that was Jim Harris! He had told me that his biggest was 48 lbs. So after he set the hook on this fish he turns to me and says I think this one may be bigger! After a 20 minute battle we netted it and put it on the boga and it pulled it down to 50+ lbs. (Jim's personal best) Took some pictures, which mine didn't turn out to well, and released it to spawn again! Then the guys wanted to do some C/R so off to the Bridge we went. Man the fishing, I mean catching was on fire there! We caught well over 125 bass between 12" & 35".
Tue. we headed back to the bridge first and caught another 100+ bass and then we headed over to the area we caught the 50. Got set up and the first drift produced a bite but it was so rough over there that it was really hard to set the hook on them! So, the first was a miss! The second drift no bites! The third Tommy took control and hooked a good one! After 15 minute battle we netted a 44+ lb Bass! Tom's personal best! Then after a couple more drifts and 2 swings & misses we decided to go back to some bird plays next to the bridge! The guys hooked up with quite a few more, this time the fish were a little bigger with the range being between 24" & 40" Called it a day after that & headed back to the dock!
Here's Jim Harris with his 50+ Cow!
